Rapper Nas Avoids Contempt Charge in Divorce Case

Rap star Nas has beat a charge of contempt, filed by his former wife Kelis.  The contempt allegation was for a reported $50,000.

According to Los Angeles sources, Nas reportedly missed $200,000 in child support payments.  In December, the star was ordered to pay $51,000 per month to his former wife and their children.  It is unclear how he was able to beat the contempt charge.

Kate Walsh Finalizes Divorce

"Private Practice" star Kate Walsh has finalized her divorce from television executive Alex Young.

According to the terms of their divorce, the couple split their communal property by flipping a coin to determine who would get to keep furniture and artwork.  The settlement also mentions that Mr. Young will get to keep $627,000 - half the amount of money Walsh made for filming the popular ABC TV show.

N.C. wife wins $9 million lawsuit against husband's mistress

A North Carolina woman has won a landmark $9 million lawsuit filed against her husband's mistress, whom she alleged caused alienation of affection.

North Carolina is one of several states in which spouses can sue on grounds of alienation of affections, a charge that allows spouses to seek civil damages from a third party who has been engaged in sexual relations with their husband or wife.  In the recent North Carolina case, a woman saw her 33-year marriage come to an end because her husband had an affair with a coworker.  The "other woman" is planning on appealing the ruling to a higher court.
