The standard divorce procedure is as follows:

1. Complete the necessary forms: complaint, verification, and summons.

2. File the appropriate forms with the clerk of court.

3. Serve the papers on your spouse.

4. Contact the clerk about a hearing date.

5. Notify your spouse about the hearing date.

6. Appear for a brief hearing with the judge.

DIVORCE COMPLAINT AND MOTION FOR SUMMARY JUDGMENT

This is simply the paper used to open your case and ask the judge for a divorce.

VERIFICATION

The VERIFICATION (Form 10) is filed as your affirmation that the information you included in the DIVORCE COMPLAINT AND MOTION FOR SUMMARY JUDGEMENT (Form 9) regarding your residency, the date you were married and separated is true. You will need to sign and date the form in the presence of a notary public.

SUMMARY JUDGEMENT FOR ABSOLUTE DIVORCE

The SUMMARY JUDGEMENT FOR ABSOLUTE DIVORCE (Form 12) is the paper the judge will sign at the divorce hearing to formally grant your divorce.

CERTIFICATE OF ABSOLUTE DIVORCE

The CERTIFICATE OF ABSOLUTE DIVORCE or ANNULMENT (Form 13) is required by the courts for their own administrative purposes.
