Canadian Website Selling Invalid Divorce Forms

In Columbia South Carolina, the Attorney General’s office says that people who paid $500 to download divorce forms from a Canadian website should get a refund because the divorce forms do not comply with state divorce laws.

The South Carolina Bar Association also stated that people who paid for forms from A Divorce Fast should receive a full refund because the company is not licensed to practice law in South Carolina.

Courthouses across the state have turned down the divorce forms, which has left people with neither their money nor a finalized divorce. The Attorney General’s office was contacted by the victims, at the courts’ suggestion.

As of this article, a settlement has been reached between the Attorney General’s office and the owner of A Divorce Fast from which six people have already received refunds. A listed phone number for the company is no longer in service.
