Jeffrey E. Marshall

Raleigh, North Carolina Attorney. Jeff was born and raised in Rochester, New York. After graduating from Fairport High School, Jeff attended SUNY Buffalo, after being recruited to play football by former Buffalo Bill great and current NFL coach, Jim Haslett, and received his BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. He then attended Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio where he graduated with Order of the Curia honors. Immediately following graduation Jeff moved to North Carolina where he has practiced law ever since.

Jeff’s practice is limited to Family Law and Divorce matters including child custody, child support, spousal support (postseparation support and alimony), complex equitable distribution, domestic violence, adoptions and termination of parental rights. He is a skilled negotiator and litigator and has also been certified by the Dispute Resolution Committee as a Family Financial Mediator where he is chosen by the courts and other attorneys to mediate high conflict cases.

Jeff is Board Certified by the North Carolina State Bar’s Board of Legal Specialization in Family Law. At the time of his certification he was one of only 204 lawyers state-wide to achieve this distinction. The North Carolina State Bar certifies lawyers as specialists in designated practice areas as a service to the public to identify lawyers who have demonstrated special knowledge, skill and proficiency in certain areas of law. The program gives lawyers a credible way of making their expertise known to the public and other lawyers. To be certified as a specialist in a practice area, a lawyer must have extensive experience in their area of practice, be favorably evaluated by other lawyers and judges, and pass a written examination in the specialty practice area. Jeff is a member of the Wake County Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association and the North Carolina State Bar. As a member of the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, Jeff is a member of the:

Jeff currently serves as a Board Member and is the past President on the Board of Directors for The Child’s Advocate which is a local, non-profit organization designed to ensure that Courts hear and understand a minor child’s opinions in highly contested custody cases. Jeff is a recognized authority on North Carolina Family Law and has been contacted by the local media for his opinions, insight and observations. including an interview for UNC TV for a program on Domestic Violence, interviews by the News and Observer and an NBC-17 segment on Internet Affairs.

In his spare time Jeff enjoys exercising (CrossFit is his newest passion), fly fishing, shooting sporting clays and spending time with his wife Becky, his newborn daughter Harper and of course their two “other children”, their dogs, Georgie and Preacher.
